Regional challenges and capabilities will be discussed in the context of global issues and views. While international partners are vital to the Middle East, Middle Eastern nations are progressively undertaking their responsibility for policing their region and assuming command functions within maritime coalitions. These experiences will be shared to support an increasing appetite for command and control “C&C”. International speakers will brief on current maritime concepts in order to understand how a balance of deterrence and increasing ability to counter developing threats is required to ensure regional stability. It is important to jointly address the impact of the regional issues on their own energy security and economies. Civilian presenters will discuss how the rapidly-changing maritime environment and current threats affect the shipping industry and consequently national security and economic development and how the ever-increasing demands for global resources will continue to make the region vital in the future.
